Applications for the Terry Foundation Scholarships are usually available in September or October.  Check the scholarship page on the websites of the colleges listed above for applications, eligibility requirements and application deadlines.  Application deadlines vary by college.  Check the Terry Foundation website for information on the foundation.

Bank of America Abilities Scholarship Program
Scholarships awarded to students with disabilities and have a permanent residence in Arizona, California, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia , Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, Nevada, new Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington. Anne Ford Scholarship

P. Buckley Moss Society Harbison Award

RECORDING FOR THE BLIND/LEARNING THROUGH LISTENING. This program provides three scholarships of $3,000 each for high school seniors who are learning disabled. The award is based on academic achievement, leadership, enterprise, and service to others. Financial need is not a factor. NATIONAL SOCIETY OF THE DAR/MARGARET HOWARD HAMILTON SCHOLARSHIP. This award is for $1,000 (renewable for 4 years) for a high school senior who has been accepted to the Ben Caudle Learning Center, University of the Ozarks. COCA-COLA SCHOLARSHIPS---Must apply online at www.coca-colascholars.org before October 31st.  Eligibility requirements include having a minimum 3.0 GPA and being involved in school and community activities.  The CEEB # needed in the application is our school code 446-958.

November Deadlines

TCU TEXAS YOUTH ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR AWARD: Presented by the Neeley Entrepreneur Center at Texas Christian University awards one $5000 scholarship and six $1000 scholarships to students who own and run their own businesses.  Apply on-line at www.tcuyeya.org. You must apply before November 1.

EUGENE MCDERMOTT SCHOLARS PROGRAM—

  • 1400 or higher on the two part SAT (verbal and math);
  • 2100 or higher on the three part SAT;
  • 32 or higher on the ACT;
  • A class rank in the top five percent of their graduating class;
  • Long records of community volunteerism and leadership in school;
  • Broad and eclectic interests in science, literature, and the arts; and

RON BROWN  SCHOLARS PROGRAM

To be eligible, applicant must be a U. S. citizen, African American, and a high school senior.

Applicant must demonstrate academic achievement, have leadership potential, and participate in community service activities and demonstrate financial need.   There are two deadlines: November 1, 2011 and January 9th.  For an application, and additional information, visit: www.ronbrown.org or see Mrs. Hearn for an application.

2012COMMITMENT TO AGRICULTURE SCHOLARSHIP : Must have family in agriculture production, minimum ACT of 18, and plan to pursue a degree in any field of agriculture. Applications may be found on-line at www.ffa.org.   Deadline to apply is February 15, 2012.  Apply Early!  The 2012 Scholarship application will be available online from November 15, 2011 to 5:00 p.m. EST February 15, 2012. (Required Signature Page must be mailed postmarked no later than February 22, 2012.)

EMORY SCHOLARS PROGRAMEmory Scholars Awards span four years of undergraduate studies and range from two-thirds tuition to full tuition, room and board.  Recipients of the Emory Award may participate in an extensive program of education enrichment including independent research.  Recipients may receive stipends to enjoy cultural and social events. Awards may also be used to study abroad during the school year or during summers.  Award recipients will also participate in a variety of service learning opportunities.  Applicants must be nominated for the award and submit an application for admission to Emory University. HENDRIX COLLEGE
The Hays Memorial Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship offered each year by Hendrix College. The award covers tuition, student activity fee, double occupancy residence hall room, and fifteen meal board plan. Eligibility requirements 3.6 GPA, ACT score of 32 or SAT score of 1410. INTEL SCIENCE TALENT

The Intel science talent search, a program of Society for Science & the Public, is America’s oldest and most prestigious pre-college science competition. The event brings together 40 of the best and brightest young scientific minds in America to compete for USD $1.25 million in awards and scholarships.  Rules and applications can be found at www.societyforscience.  Application deadline is November 10, 2011.

AMERICAN ASSOCIATION ON HEALTH AND (AAHD) DISABILITY SCHOLARSHIPS PROGRAM 2011-2012.

In 2009, AAHD created the AAHD Disability Scholarships Program, which will support students with disabilities who are pursuing higher education. Preference will be given to students who plan to pursue undergraduate/graduate studies in the field of public health, health promotion, disability studies, to include disability policy and disability research.

STOKES EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM--  The Stokes Educational Scholarship Program is designed to recruit senior high school students and college sophomores who demonstrate the capability to develop skills critical to the mission of the National Security Agency (NSA). These skills include mathematics, computer science, electrical or computer engineering, and certain foreign languages. To qualify for the Stokes Program, students must meet the following requirements: SAT score of 1,100 or higher, or composite ACT score of 25 or higher and a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher. Application deadline is November 30th of the student's senior year of high school. Students receive full tuition and incur an employment obligation upon graduation. HUMANE STUDIES FELLOWSHIP AT GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY

The Institute for Humane Studies Scholarships of up to $12,000 will be awarded to undergraduate or graduates to study in the United States or abroad. About 120 scholarships are awarded to outstanding undergraduate, graduate, law, and professional students who are exploring the principles, practices, and institutions necessary to a free society through their academic work. $20,000 Scholarship—eligibility requirements GPA 2.75, enroll in a public college or university in state of legal residence, plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree, U. S. SAE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIPS

US NAVY SCHOLARSHIPS

REBEKAH ASSEMBLY OF TEXAS

A $1,000 scholarship is available for a Texas resident to attend any accredited two- or four-year college/university. Scholarship is based on academic ability, community service, personal development, and financial need. Applicant must submit a completed application along with a high school transcript, a typed letter outlining expected goals to be reached as a result of further education, and three letters of reference. Scholarships are available for son, daughter or legally adopted child of an active, retired or deceased letter carrier NALC member who is or was a member in good standing for at least one year prior to student making application. Stepchildren are eligible if they live with the letter carrier in a regular parent-child relationship. Applicant must plan to attend an accredited college. Only high school seniors may apply. Rules and application governing the 2010-2011 competition will be published in the July through December issues of the Postal Record, the official NALC magazine. RON BROWN SCHOLARSHIP: This $40,000 scholarship is reserved for African-American high school seniors and may be used at accredited four-year institutions.  Applications may be downloaded from www.ronbrown.org.    Deadline to apply is January 9, 2012.

GATES MILLENNIUM SCHOLARS:  must be an African American, American Indian or Hispanic American or Asian American with a 3.3 GPA.  Deadline to apply is January 10, 2012.  You must have a nominator and a recommender.  It is best to apply on-line at www.gmsp.org .  See Mrs. Hearn for assistance.

Prairie View A & M  University/USDA/1890 NATIONAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM:  Applicant must have a 3.0 or better GPA and a 21 or better on the ACT.  Applicant must attend one of the seventeen 1890 Historically Black Institutions.  Award provides:  annual tuition, employment, employee benefits, use of a personal computer and software, books, and room and board for 4 academic years.  Deadline to apply is January 15, 2012.  The application can be filled out online and then printed. OH, THE PLACES YOU’LL GO! COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP   Valued at $5000. Applicant must be a senior graduating in 2012. Essay is required.  Visit : www.ohtheplaces.org.  Check the website for opening date and application deadline.

KOH FAMILY ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP  --$10,000 per year for four years of undergraduate study and five years for dual degree programs.  Deadline to apply is January 15, 2012. CARR P. NATIONAL WASHINGTON CROSSING FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

The National Washington Crossing Foundation Scholarship Competition is open to all high school seniors who are U.S. citizens and who are planning careers in government service. IOTA PHI LAMBDA Sorority, Inc awards scholarships for scholastic achievement to African American women who plan to pursue a college degree in the field of Business.  Scholarship award is based on SAT or ACT scores, and other sorority requirements. TEXAS LYCEUM LEADERSHIP AWARDS
One of the missions of the Texas Lyceum is to identify and develop the next generation of top leadership in the State of Texas. To accomplish this goal, the Texas Lyceum offers this scholarship to assist motivated Texas students, exhibiting leadership qualities, to attain their goals through higher education.  See Mrs. Hearn for an application. TEXAS A&M FOUNDATION EXCELLENCE AWARD SCHOLARSHIP: Deadline to apply is Feb. 12, 2011. USA FUNDS ACCESS TO EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP-- valued up to $6000 over 4 years.  Applicants must meet income requirement of $35,000 or less.
